delete \n character

Hello.

I'm next problem..

I'm a tmp file
Code:
$  cat tmp 
word1
word2
word3
word4

and I like have
Code:
word1 word2 word3 word4

I try with:
Code:
$  cat tmp |sed 's/\n//'
word1
word2
word3
word4

but 've same result

with
Code:
$  cat tmp |tr -d '\n'
word1word2word3word4

but return one token

any idea ?
