Let's say I have a line like that:

I want to cut out numbers between two $ including $s. The result should be like that:

I am so-newbei. I am non-stop reading about SED since yesterday and not a programmer. I know that it is a short period, thus maybe I had overlooked something. I combine something like that after reading some, but it is deleting rest of the line after the first $.

Code:

echo "Example$1234$ XXX Z" | sed 's/$[^$]*$//'

I ve a file consist of nearly 35,000 lines. In each lines length of numbers between two $ is different as well as the first word.

I will be grateful for any help.

Your attempt is nearly correct. You just need to backslash the dollar signs, because they have a special meaning (end of line) otherwise.

u have to use escape sequence to null the special meaning of $.

is there away to remove <link> from the start of the line and </link> from the end using sed?

I can remove the it from the start but not having much luck with the end.
