You can do something like:

thats what i tried initially but somehow there seems to a problem with the ':'

What problems? There are several date versions with different behaviour, try:

Code:
H="0000-0-0 "`date +"%R":"%S"`

or:

Code:
H="0000-0-0 "`date +"%H:%M:%S"`

I have set a mysql file to excute everyday morning to generate a html file displayng 2 tables from the database. Sometime they cannot be shown, and it shows the tables are not existed.
