How To See The Whole File In Unix

Hello everybody
I am trying to open a file in unix using more command . Ex:
more XXXX.
But when i open i can only see 3% at a time. So copying that file to notepad is taking long time. Is there any way i can open the whole file at a time and copy the whole content and paste in notepad. When i use cat , it opens the whole file but when i go to the top of the file , it doesnt show the whole file. I am using PUTTY. Please help me
Thank you

If you use puty you can increase the terminal log size!
Or the better way is to use sftp and upload the file. And simple use the notepad to open it.

Try :
Code:
more -num input_file

where num is the required page size.

For example, if you want to display the file 200 lines at a time :
Code:
more -200 input_file

Use Putty's PSCP to download the file to get it into Notepad. Then you will have the CR/LF <-> LF problem, so use an editor on Windows that will cope with such.
Alternatively FTP in text mode will solve the CR/LF <-> LF problem for you.
Alas PSFTP does not support text/ascii/binary modes.

Solid solution is :
Putty > Click on putty icon (at the very left corner) > Change Settings... > This will open Putty Reconfiguration window
Go to category Window > set lines of scrollback (say to 9999)

Now run "more XXXX", you will be able to see 9999 lines (by scrolling back).
