You'd use a case statement within the loop to execute the options.

hi mark,

to read users input/selection use the read variable_name command. read will cause the shell to wait until the user hit ENTER before going to the next line of command. e.g.

# script begins
echo "1 Singapore"
echo "2 Indonesia"
echo
echo "Which country? \c"
read c_name
# c_name is a variable holding the input value
case $c_name
1) echo "You chose singapore.";;
2) echo "You chose indonesia.";;
*) echo "Invalid selection";;
esac
# script ends

pls do more reading and exercise. i hope your next pose will be a problem in nature instead of just a plain question like this one.

all the best of luck.
