i am writing a korn shell script to compile all programs there are arount 2000+ files now i have a script that can compile programs but i want to show status of compilation because to compile all programs it takes around 10-15 mins so how can i display status like it should print no of files compiled aftere evey 20 files

like

$20 files compiled
$40 files compiled

my shell script is simple

Code:

   (( $(( cnt % 20 )) == 0 )) && echo "${cnt} files compiled..."

   compile $i
done < filname

# 3

#!/bin/sh
cnt=0
while read i
do
cnt=$((cnt + 1))
compile $i
done < filname

Should work in any shell, but requires GNU date, although GNU date seems only to be happy for input dates between 1902 and 2037, inclusive (49673 days). Assume $a and $b hold two dates, e.g. set a=2010-03-27 set b=2010-04-04 Marginally faster: iterator: seq -f "$a +%1.0f days" 1 50000 |... (0 Replies)
