Shell Programming and Scripting

I have the following script (still in early stages), and although I can't help but think that the problem is very simple, I can't think of a solution. My script can't see binaries in /usr/bin. This isn't a problem with my login shell as I can execute these commands OK there. I've never had this problem with other scripts I've written on the same machine. I have tried a variety of export lines in the script to give the script the path to /usr/bin but this also fails to work.

As you can see, I have found a workaround by putting the full path of the programs into the script. This seems to work, although it seems far from ideal.

Check your PATH variable if it contains the /usr/bin as a basic step.

But when checking your code, you have used the full path for the expr command once.
