Lightbulb Progress Bar in Perl for UNIX
Hi Programmers,

I just wrote a small script to print the percent complete.
This maybe useful for someone!



Code:
#!/usr/local/bin/perl

# Total from which percentage will be calculated
$cnt = 16;

$|=1;
for($i=0;$i<$cnt;$i++)
{

	# Calculate Percentage
	$percent = ($i/$cnt)*100;		


        # Print Progress
	for($k=0;$k<$percent;$k=$k+5)
	{
		print "|";						
	}
	print " <-- $percent% Complete --> ";

        # Goto the start of the line

}

Hey. How could i implement your script to a file which is downloading ?
So i can get the download progress ?

You can't, its not a CGI script and in fact is not a progress bar of anything useful.

I am not working with CGI.
I am using WWW::Mechanize to download the file.
And i am trying to put together a download progress dialog, but the thing is, i cant do anything untill the download is complete.
And i am stuck here.

Are you downloading a file or fetching a webpage? If you are downloading a file then you add the Content-Length entity to the header and a progress bar will display. If you are fetching a webpage I don't know how you would add a progress bar. I'm not familiar enough with WWW:::Mechanize to know if it supports entities in headers. Have you read through the documentation?

I am download a file. Where do i add the header ?

I tried like so:
$m->get($content3[0]);
$m->add_header(":content_file" => $origFile, ":content_length" => $fileSize[1]);

But nothing happened.

Sorry but I don't know enough about WWW::Mechanize to help with the question.
