Hi!
How to use awk command and set command in a shell script?
Suppose I have to fetch data from a file and change one data with another one.Say data is ABCD.Now I have to change C with X .How do I solve this one?

as i understood the matter,
if u wana use awk then try like this within shell script

#!/bin/sh
FILENAME="$1"

awk 'BEGIN {FS="|";OFS":";}{if(NF==8) {print $0 }} END{...}' $FILENAME

Like this

about set command u can set like

set FILE=filename

if u wana replace something then try this command

sed 's/c/x/g' filename
sed 's/c/x/' filename
