File exists with Permissions

Hello All,

I wrote the following script that identifies when a file is created:

file1=/path/1
file2=/path/2

while true
do
if [[ -a $file1 && -a $file2 ]]; then
echo "$file1 and $file2 exist"
execute SAS jobs
print "Finished processing SAS files"
exit 0
else
sleep 300
fi
done

However, I've discovered that the files simply being created in their respective paths does not give me authorization to execute jobs. The owners of some of these files don't give execute permission until a little later in the day. Is there a way of modifying this script to only continuing executing my SAS jobs once
a) The file is created in the path
b) The group is given "x" (execute) permission on the file (something like continue only if Attributes is -rwxr-x)

This would help me tremendously. Thanks.

Jose

Check the -x flag (man test for more info):

Quote:
-x file
True if file exists and is executable. True will
indicate only that the execute flag is on. If
file is a directory, true indicates that file can
be searched.
