get only one file
any idea please:

ls <dir> returns n files
how to get only one file??

something ls dir | cut ...

Which file do you want?

If you want the first one:
Code:
set -- "$DIR"/*
printf "%s\n" "$1"

If you want the last one:
Code:
set -- "$DIR"/*
shift $(( $# - 1 ))
printf "%s\n" "$1"

If you want a long ls listing, change the printf line to:

ls -l "$1"

# 4
