TAB key

hi, Smilie
When i press TAB key twice at $ prompt i am getting the following mesage

"Display all 3797 possibilities? (y or n)"

could u pls tell me the meaning of this message.

the meaning of tab when pressed at the console is to auto complete the words that u are typing, eg u type c and you press tab, it is going to give u a possible list of commands starting with c. if u press tab with no words there u have your endless possib, of commands :P
