Shell Programming and Scripting

hii everyone,
Iam akash working in infosys.This is a shell program from some unix puzzle book.I have just started learning unix was wondering about how to do this.It would be great if someone helped me out with the program.

question)write a korn shell script to implement an interactive integer calculator using the shell's built-in arithmetic expression evaluation. The expression result must be stored in a shell variable named ans, and displayed in decimal, hex , and binary. we need to write a shell function to perform the display in binary. Assume that integers have 32 bits, and display the bits in four groups of 8. The script must also respond to commands exit, quit, and clear (where clear just sets ans = 0).
The script will loop reading lines from stdin, and for each line:
Display the line.
If the line represents a command, perform the command, otherwise evaluate the expression and store the result in shell variable ans.
Display ans in decimal, hex, and binary.
