quoting in conditional statement

can somebody help, what quote i should use in below statement or what wrong of it ?
the 1st (*) is a char, the 2nd and 3rd (*) is a wildcard


if [[ "$a" = * -o "$a" = *$c* ]] && [[ $d = abc -o $e = xyz ]] && [.....]]
................^ .............^
then
echo "ok"
fi

Try:

if [[ "$a" = * || "$a" = *$c* ]] && [[ $d = abc || $e = xyz ]] && [.....]]

Within [[ ]] tests, the = operator test for a pattern.
If you want to use * as a simple char, put it between quotes or escape it.

Code:
if [[ "$a" = '*' || "$a" = *$c* ]]

or

if [[ "$a" = \* || "$a" = *$c* ]]
