Awk Help
I have a very complicated script that is in some cases producing a line with mismatched quotes. In some cases it works fine, but in others it removes the trailing quote.

For example.

1) "here is one command"
2) "here is another


Case #1 is correct, and I don't want to do anything - I want to test to see if I have case #2 and correct that by adding the trailing quote.

If anyone has any quick ideas on how I might do this in awk, I'd appreciate it.

this is not the best soln but will work

one more cleaner way using sed

if using the above, why not just:

sed 's/\([^"]\)$/\1"/' file

or

Code:
sed '/[^"]$/s/$/"/' file

I am not all that proficient in sed
can you please explain the syntax
