Shell script help
I have the following script which repeats the heading of the following :

I would like only once heading not repeating .

Too simple:
echo the heading before the loop, and omit the BEGIN section!

Thank you; have tried but the column header for each item (Hostname Modelname SerialID ) not showing up.

And you didn't forget the echo before the loop?

It's just a personal preference, but for clarity I would also suggest moving the awk code out to it's own file and call it in with awk's -f flag, obviously putting a nice comment in the shell script what you are calling it to do.

Not only will it make your shell script neater, it will segregate any syntax issues of the awk code from the shell script, e.g. a missing quote somewhere.

Because you are calling this in a loop, there might be concerns about the extra reads required, however you are also including an ssh call, so that is almost certain to be far slower that reading in your awk code each time anyway.
