Run scripts in background one by one
Hello all,
Can someone help with one script?

I have as example 3 scripts
1.sh
Code:
sleep 60 &
sleep 60 &
sleep 10 &
sleep 80 &
sleep 60 &

2.sh
Code:
sleep 40 &
sleep 5 &
sleep 10 &
sleep 70 &
sleep 60 &

3.sh
Code:
sleep 40 &
sleep 5  &
sleep 10 &
sleep 70 &
sleep 60 &

Now I need script to run all those scripts one by one (not at the same time).
As we have "&" in each line script will finish and command will go in background.

Code:
while sleep 1 ; do
ps -ef | grep -q sleep
if [ $? != 0 ]
then
echo "no jobs let's run another script"
...(some part of script to take first 1.sh when is done take 2.sh etc...)
fi
done

# 2

Those three scripts need wait statements at the end (as a last statement)

wait

Then you can just do something like this in the main script:

for i in 1 2 3 
do
  "./$i.sh"
done

If you need to run them one by one, why are they in the background?

Script1 should be
Code:
sleep 60
sleep 60
sleep 10
sleep 80
sleep 60

and if you want to background it, do ./script1.sh &

Or alternatively you could do

Code:
(
        sleep 60
        sleep 60
        sleep 10
        sleep 80
        sleep 60
         ) &

disown # Only required in certain shells

Either way the solution is the same - put the shell in the background, not the applications. This allows the shell to remain in control of them.
