Here is the full script:

The Perl script agedays.pl under /tmp is

Code:
#!//usr/local/bin/perl
use POSIX;
use Time::Local;

my %mon;
@mon{qw/Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec/} = 0..11;

my ($mmm, $dd, $yy) = split(/[-\/ ]/, $ARGV[0]);

printf "%.0f", (time() - timelocal(0,0,0,$dd,$mon{$mmm}, $yy) - 0.4999) / (24*60*60);

The error code I get is
Code:
./mksysbChk.ksh[38]: agedays.pl: not found [No such file or directory]

# 25
Old 10-18-2016
Error message says it clearly that it can't find the file .

try changing
Code:
BackupAge=$(agedays.pl "$DateStr")

To
Code:
 BackupAge=$(/tmp/agedays.pl "$DateStr")

Make sure above path is correct and file exists.

I get the below error after the change:

Code:
Day '' out of range 1..31 at /tmp/agedays.pl line 10
Day too big - 49731 > 24854
Sec too small - 49731 < 54821
Cannot handle date (0, 0, 0, 28, 1, 2106) at /tmp/agedays.pl line 10

Hi,

Can you check value of variable DateStr ?

Here is the information from CPAN:
Quote:
The value for the day of the month is the actual day (ie 1..31), while the month is the number of months since January (0..11).
$sec, $min, $hour, $mday, and $mon.
There is also option to skip the check on ranges ie nocheck as stated in CPAN:
Quote:
If you'd rather they didn't, you can explicitly import the timelocal_nocheck() and timegm_nocheck() functions.
you can find examples as well in that page.
As mentioned in post#19, please refer CPAN for more : Time::Local

Sounds like some validation of input is needed.

You could enhance agedays.pl to output "ERROR" if input is invalid:

Code:
#!/bin/perl
use POSIX;
use Time::Local;

my %mon;
@mon{qw/Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec/} = 0..11;

my ($mmm, $dd, $yy) = split(/[-\/ ]/, $ARGV[0]);

eval {
  printf "%.0f", (time() - timelocal(0,0,0,$dd,$mon{$mmm}, $yy) - 0.4999) / (24*60*60)
};
printf "ERROR" if $@;

Then test for the "ERROR" result in your script:
Code:
...
while read input
do
  if [[ ${input:9:1} = ':' ]]
  then
     DateStr="${input:0:3} ${input:4:2} $(date +%Y)"
  else
     DateStr="${input:0:3} ${input:4:2} 20${input:10:2}"
  fi
  BackupAge=$(agedays.pl "$DateStr")

  if [ "$BackupAge" = "ERROR" ]
  then
       printf "Illegal date: \"$DateStr\" - skipping line"
       continue
  fi
  ...
