Please help -- any alternative to expect ?
Doing some automation to automate some server tasks in Linux through shell scripting. In the script I tried to call a expect script to log into another server and execute a command. Please note: passwordless SSH is not possible hence am trying some User-interactive commands like Expect to send passwords etc...
Unfortunately I DO NOT have expect installed in th Box and due to various reasons -- am not allowed to install expect manually.

Is there a different utility which can do the job? pasted my sample code using EXPECT below . Looking to achieve the same functionality through any other command...

Rich Teer wrote Solaris System programming - when it was written there was no 'expect' program for Solaris.

Look at the code dowload link. -- pty programming is a way get around the problems expect would normally handle. The calls in the code example - IIRC - work on pretty much unchanged on most UNIX/Linux boxes. His example automates running the passwd command.

If you set up passwordless keys as intended instead of using the expect password brute-forcing utility, copying files will be as easy as scp localfile user@host:remotefile
