For each set of lines starting with a line where ip appears at the end of the line through the next line where printed has the value 6, increment printed and print the line.

This construct is more frequently seen when matching a range of patterns:

/x/,/y/ {print}

or a range of line numbers:
Code:
3,5 {print}

but there is nothing in the awk specification that restricts the conditions used to specify the comma separated start and end points of the range.
