Looks like something wrong in the IF stmt
since this works
as soon as I get the if it gives the syntax error
Code:
cat $ORA_LOG/diskspace.tmp | while read LINE
do
SIZE=`echo $LINE | awk '{print $5}'`
MOUNT=`echo $LINE | awk '{print $6}'`
cat $ORA_LOG/diskspace0.tmp | while read LINE1
do
MOUNT1=`echo $LINE1 | awk '{print $1}'`
SIZE1=`echo $LINE1 | awk '{print $2}'`
echo $MOUNT
echo $MOUNT1
done
done

can you give examples of your diskspace.tmp and diskspace0.tmp files.
# 11
Old 02-15-2006
from 'man ksh':
Code:
     number1 -ne number2
            true if number1 is not equal to number2

I do want to process
if $MOUNT -eq $MOUNT1
in my previous example I tried to do -ne just to check if that works

Following is the original code which gives syntax error
Code:
bdf |  sed "s/%/ /g" | sed "/Filesystem/d" | sed "/cdrom/d" > $ORA_LOG/diskspace.tmp
cat $ORA_LOG/diskspace.tmp | while read LINE
    do
      SIZE=`echo $LINE | awk '{print $5}'`
      MOUNT=`echo $LINE | awk '{print $6}'`
      cat $ORA_LOG/diskspace0.tmp | while read LINE1
      do
        MOUNT1=`echo $LINE1 | awk '{print $1}'`
        SIZE1=`echo $LINE1 | awk '{print $2}'`
        if [ "$MOUNT" -eq "$MOUNT1" ]; then
                if [ "$SIZE" -gt "$SIZE1" ]; then
                SYSTEM=`echo $LINE  | awk '{print $6}'`
                echo "`hostname`:$SYSTEM is $SIZE% full" > $ORA_LOG/diskspace1.tmp
                for dba in `cat $ORA_SCRIPT/DBA_EMAIL_LIST`
                do
                        /usr/bin/mailx -s "Diskspace Above Threshold" $dba < $ORA_LOG/diskspace1.tmp
                done
               fi
        fi
      done
done
rm $ORA_LOG/diskspace.tmp
rm $ORA_LOG/diskspace1.tmp

THANKS.
I FIGURED OUT

instead of "-eq" when I tried "=" it worked.

Code:
bdf |  sed "s/%/ /g" | sed "/Filesystem/d" | sed "/cdrom/d" > $ORA_LOG/diskspace.tmp
cat $ORA_LOG/diskspace.tmp | while read LINE
    do
      SIZE=`echo $LINE | awk '{print $5}'`
      MOUNT=`echo $LINE | awk '{print $6}'`
      cat $ORA_LOG/diskspace0.tmp | while read LINE1
      do
        MOUNT1=`echo $LINE1 | awk '{print $1}'`
        SIZE1=`echo $LINE1 | awk '{print $2}'`
        if [ "$MOUNT" = "$MOUNT1" ]; then
                if [ "$SIZE" -gt "$SIZE1" ]; then
                SYSTEM=`echo $LINE  | awk '{print $6}'`
                echo "`hostname`:$SYSTEM is $SIZE% full" > $ORA_LOG/diskspace1.tmp
                for dba in `cat $ORA_SCRIPT/DBA_EMAIL_LIST`
                do
                        /usr/bin/mailx -s "Diskspace Above Threshold" $dba < $ORA_LOG/diskspace1.tmp
                done
               fi
        fi
      done
done
rm $ORA_LOG/diskspace.tmp
rm $ORA_LOG/diskspace1.tmp

Code:
if [ "$MOUNT" = "$MOUNT1" ]; then

the folloiwng errored
Code:
if [ "$MOUNT" -eq "$MOUNT1" ]; then
