The following would be simpler and will work even if your filenames contain spaces and/or tabs. Since head is usually smaller than awk, it will also usually run faster:

cat lack.csv >> "$(ls -t BW* | head -n 1)"

You haven't said what OS you're using. If it is a really old OS and it issues a diagnostic saying that your version of head doesn't have a -n option, change head -n 1 to head -1.

The following should be faster still:

do      cat lack.csv >> "$fn"
        exit
done
