Get the value of the file in path
I have file NUMBER with value 20131010.
The Path to the file is /Users/files/NUMBER.
I need to get value of the file through path.
I tried to use
Code:
echo ${/Users/files/NUMBER}
echo ${"/Users/files/NUMBER"}

But It does not work. Any Ideas?

If you by "value of the file through path" just mean the filename, then its:
Code:
var=$(basename "/path/to/file with spaces")

If you mean the content of the file, its:
Code:
content="$(cat /Users/files/NUMBER)"

$ echo ${p%/*}
/path/to
$ echo ${p##*/}
file with spaces
