How to automate a script that would require authentication?
Hey everyone... I'm just stretching my wings a bit and seeing how things work. If I wanted to write a script that had me ssh to my remote computer, how can this be done? If the script runs without me, how can I enter the required password? the same is true for any time of authentication method like scp file transferring... There must be a way via script around this?

1. try "expect" (Automating Tasks with EXPECT | Linux Journal)
2. install sshpass ( sudo apt-get install sshpass, or download source code, compile and install it)
3. set password-free SSH.

if you were allowed and are able to setup ssh with keys (see man ssh and man ssh-keygen), you could do this requirement without using any password at all ... all you would need is your script setup with all the right commands with the correct paths, setup the time it is supposed to run (using at or cron) and you would be good to go ...

search the forums for automated ssh scripts and you should have a load of reading ...
