Delete a pattern using sed.

I have a string in which i need to match a pattern and then i need to delete that line which contains that matching string.
The string is ..

Code:
This is the given string
//abc/def/IC.5.4.3/test/...

i need to match //abc

I am writing like this
Code:
sed '/^/\/\abc/d'

but it is not giving me the desired result.

Help me out n tell me where i am wrong ?

Regards
Nishant

Close. You have a / in the wrong place. Try changing:
Code:
sed '/^/\/\abc/d'

to
Code:
sed '/^\/\/abc/d'

Note to vidyadhar85:
You can change the delimiter in a substitute command just be using the desired character (other than backslash (\) and <newline>) where the delimiter goes. But in a context address, if you want to use anything other than slash (/) as the delimiter, you need to escape the 1st delimiter with a backslash. So, the sed command to do the above using # as the delimiter would be:
Code:
sed '\#^//abc#d'

With awk
Code:
awk '!/^\/\/abc/'

Code:
awk '$0!~"^//abc/"'
