Sun Password in ssh

Hello Guys,

I have a specific requirement where I need to provide password to ssh and sftp in my script on Solaris.

I know password-less connection is the way without password but in my case, I cant use the same due to some limitations.

Please let me know if we can tweak it.

Have a search through the board. There are several discussions about ssh and use of the tool expect but I have not used it myself.

It would be useful to know why you cannot exchange keys to get this working password-less.

Hey Robin,

I cant exchange keys as with password-less connection, I am not able to access a softlink. The same softlink is accessible when I make connection with password.

The softlink is pointing to 3rd server which is storage.

Also I cant install expect on production server.

Well, you could make it not a softlink perhaps?

How can I make it not a softlink. My softlink is the only way I can access third server and its working fine with password connection

So, I'm getting a bit confused now. Are you saying that from client A, you ssh to server B and then on to server C? How is your "softlink" created? Is it something like:-
Code:
ln -s /usr/bin/remsh ServerC

What are you actually trying to achieve? If we know the intention, then we may be better placed to make suggestions.

Yes you are almost right. I am connecting from server A (Solaris) to server B (Windows) and softlink is created to server C (Storage).

Link is created as,
ln -s "//storage_ip/directory" "softlink"

I cant connect directly from Solaris to Storage hence using Windows system as intermidiate to transfer files. On Windows I am using copSSH to enable ssh/sftp.

The same softlink is working with password connection but does not with passwordless connection.
