I would like to know how to parse this at:

From:
Compute Machin Appliance 3.2.9.10000 123456

To:
Compute Machin Appliance 3.2.9.123456

Code:
sed 's/\.[0-9]* /\./g'

\. - Period . is a metacharacter hence escaped to preserve its literal meaning.

[0-9]* - Zero or more occurrence of any digits followed by blank space.

The code is replacing a pattern with period followed by zero or more occurrence of any digits followed by blank space to period:
Code:
Compute Machin Appliance 3.2.9.10000 123456 ---> Compute Machin Appliance 3.2.9.123456

With awk, using regex from Yoda
Code:
awk '{sub(/\.[0-9]+ /,".")}1'
