To find out 90 days old date
Hi,

I am in beginning stage on scripting, i need help for the question below.

i want unix command/script (ksh) to get the 90days old date in unix.

For example today's date is : 2013-05-26
I need to get the 90 days old date as : 2013-02-25.

Previously posted solution requires GNU date.

If you don't have GNU date, using perl is an option:

perl -e 'use POSIX qw(strftime); print strftime "%Y-%m-%d",localtime(time()- 3600*24*90);'

On AIX (and perhaps others) the timezone can also be used.
Code:
$ echo $TZ
GMT0BST
$ Real_TZ=$TZ
$ TZ=GMT2160BST
$ date
Wed 27 Feb 09:43:24 2013
$ TZ=$Real_TZ

The 2160 is 90 * 24 + the red 0 from the output above. Make sure that you add in or subtract the relevant timezone bit.

Hi, One of my Unix scripts needs to look for files coming in on Fridays. This script runs on Mondays. $date +"%y%m%d" will give me today's date.
