I need to get the tine stamp of a file and based on this time stamp I am doing a comparison and based on this i need to call a java jar file. I am using ksh shell and in this stat is not there.

So instead of stat I am using ls -l command and using awk i am getting $6 $7 and $8 fields of the time.

The problem which i am facing is while using the ls -l command I am not getting the current year as it is listing only the minutes and the seconds for the current year.

The time which i need to compare is an old time and here the field is having the year instead of the minutes and seconds. Due to this my If condition is not working.
Can anybody tell me How i can change this
I know we can change the time stamp of file by using touch -t command. But I need to do this by using ls -l .
Can anybody help me.

In general, ls -l will only give you the year for timestamps in the future and timestamps more than six months old. If you are on a Solaris system, ls -/ or ls -% timestamp might help.

Do you have the --time-style option to ls available?
