Question Job scheduling on demand

I am writing a script to run the jobs on demand, like when i am done with some online updates i want to run the sheduler script to schedule the job 1 by 1. It executes the following way

Code:
sched.ksh <data file>

The data file will have the jobs to be executed in the order to be executed and with parameters passed for the job.

For ex

Code:
job1 R
job2
job3
job4 R 100
job 5

The script works fine and runs the jobs in the sequential mode and runs the next job only if the previous job has successfully ended.

But I need to change it to incorporate a feature where if the job1, job2 has run fine and job 3 has failed i need toe xecute from job 3 and not from teh start.

Can someone help me on ideas of how to get this done?

When a job completes successfully, save an indicator of that status in a file. Before starting a job in the script, check that file to see if that job has already been completed.
