Thank you Corona . For the below code i get the list files names,size but want to get the count of the files from ftp server. which i am not able to get it

Code:
#!/usr/bin/perl -w
use Net::FTP;
$ftp = Net::FTP->new("Hostname");
$ftp->login('username', 'password');
$ftp->cwd("<PATH>");
$ftp->binary;

my @filenames=$ftp->ls();
foreach (@filenames)
{
#  print "$_\n" ;
 print $_, " File Size: ", $ftp->size($_), "\n";
}
$ftp->quit();

Your array is @filenames.

The length would therefore be $#filenames + 1.

I did that before you messaged me . I get the count of lines but i also get no of types displayed. example below. It has 11820 lines and it display 11820 types . is there any way i can get the final count in one line.

If you don't want it to loop, don't put it inside the loop. Put it after the loop.

Need help creating a script to FTP files to a server and then delete the files that were transfered.

I am trying to FTP files to a Windows server through my Linux machine. I have setup the file transfer with no problems but am having problem deleting those files from the Linux box.
