Wrench For loop + awk

Hi guys.
I am writing a script to ping various machines and echo their hostnames back to me.

my hosts.txt file is:

Code:
172.21.51.21      B0
172.21.51.51      B1
172.21.51.81      B2
172.21.51.111     M0
172.21.51.141     M1
172.21.51.117     M2
172.21.51.210     S0
172.21.51.213     B3

My script is :

Code:
#!/bin/bash
Node=/export/home/PINGtest/hosts.txt

#-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
. /opt/scripts/function.sh
#-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#j=` cat $Node | awk '{print $2}' `
for i in ` cat $Node | awk '{print $1}' `;
#do
#for j in ` cat $Node | awk '{print $2}' `;
    do
    echo $i
    W=`ping $i | awk '{print $3}'`

       if [ $W = alive ]
        then
          echo "$var is Available"

        else

          Func_SMS operation "Node is unavailable"
          echo "Machine is Down"
       fi

#done
#break
done

My script pings every individual IP successfully and returns me the result.
What I want is for it to return me :

<HOSTNAME> is Available . I want it to take the second row individually of the hosts file and return me its name against the IP.
I tried used another nested for loop but failed.

How can I do that ?

Code:
#!/bin/bash
Node=/export/home/PINGtest/hosts.txt
while read ip host
do
      read a b c d e <<EOF
$(ping -c1 $ip)
EOF
      if [ "$c" = "alive" ] ; then
                echo "$ip $host is alive"
      else
                echo "$ip $host is down"
      fi
done < $Node

Or

Code:
while read ip host
      if ping -c1 $ip >/dev/null 2>&1
      then
                echo "$ip $host is alive"
      else
                echo "$ip $host is down"
      fi
done < $Node

You can try this awk oneliner
Code:
awk '{ print ( system("ping -c 1 "$1 ">/dev/null" ) ) ? $1 FS $2 " not responding" : $2 " is alive"  }' hosts.txt
