EXPECT - advanced help

Hi,
i need to automate installation (console) of product and found except as solution.iam new to expect and know basics of expect.
i am struck with the following cases and need help for them to continue:

1) in every screen of installation at the end we have [next] [cancel] kind of buttons which we need to select them using tab key and then press enter on that key
2) we have some kind of checkbox implemented where we need to select option by moving cursor over that place using tab key and then space bar to select/deselect that option
3) we have dropdown kind of thing where we need to use tab to go to that place and press enter there
4) in order to accept license we have + _ at right side, where we need to read entire license by pressing +(move to + using tab and press enter till license is finished)

For above cases i need help in order to move forward.
thanks in advance

auto-expect would be your friend to do that in that if you feel that the console setup needs some of the manual steps involving tabs and scrolls. my own perception is that there if you are trying to install some application using text based client/console, then there will be a config for automatically accepting the licensing or disabling it for the sake of an installation.
in essence , you send any key from your keyboard using 'expect' that is possible when you type them, sequence only does matter.

Yes, it was expected because you may have used a different key sequence while doing the macro ( autoexpect ). try editing the script.exp and then change/edit the sequence of command and control characters where you encounter the seg-fault exactly.

Or if you have the script.exp, you can write down your own script with control character being inserted into the script using CTRL-V + CTRL-D ( for putting the CTRL-D ) or moving the cursor.

please do share what you get after that.

if you can elaborate in more details what you are trying to install/comission, that would be more helpful. It seems that the same could be done other way or the License be accepted before starting installation.

IN my product installation first there will be couple of screens where [Next][cancel] buttons are displayed and i need to press on [Next]

By adding ctrl V+ctrl D to script.exp i am able to see both buttons but enter on [next] button is not working in the first screen itself
