guys...usually we simply browse the man pages with "man commandName"
are there better ways to browse the man pages?

i also see many underlined words in man pages...does they have some special signifigance like the one in html.. i.e can they be directly refered for complete reference?

is there any command available to convert man pages to text/rtf/html format?

suppose i wish to write my own man pages where to begin? is there any special language to do that?

This should be a good start to find all the answers you need.

Install konqueor and in the location bar type #command name. konqueror displays man pages just as web pages which are easy to read and navigate.

you can export $PAGER
eg. export PAGER='vi'
and man <command> will open the help in vi session..

if that helps.....

or you can use xman provided you have x-windows running on your m/c
obviously x-windows has its limitations too...

There is a nice command "apropos" that lists man pages if you do not know the exact name. Try for example "apropos directory".
You will get a long output, so it would be better to limit it to commands only:
"apropos directory | grep '\(1\)' ".
