grep
Hello All,
I am having a problem with grep. I need to select all the entries with the fields "00" from a file, however when I run the command grep 00, it also picks out other fields that have 0 and any other number eg: 01, 10, 03, etc. Please assist

A little more info is needed ... example input and output required would be good.

Command:

grep .00 file

Output:
Brush n.a 1 .80 11.20
Batt n.a 1 .00 11.20

I only want the "batt" line in the output.

I hope you get:

Tent n.a 5 1.00 12.00
Batt n.a 1 .00 11.20

From your grep., not what you said you got ...

grep '[^0-9].00' file

works for your sample file. It will grep out entries with '.00' but no preceeding digits ... however it would not grep out an entry 0.00
