Is grep bi-polar?
I am trying to write a shell script for fun that would allow me to grep words from selected text files and delete them. Can anyone help me?

Not without a lot more details about what you want to do.
Please give us sample input (in CODE tags), corresponding sample output (in CODE tags), and describe the logic behind what you want to do.

I would like to make lists of data in a textile. But I would like to do it through a script. The only thing I can think of is...

Check with grep's -v option and try.
