No it's not for homework. Trying to learn some scripting to automze @ work.

I update my previous post to describe what might have happened, and in doing so somewhat contradicted myself! It needs to be more qualified, not less.

The word "begin" appears elsewhere, which the sed command is picking up. You should better qualify the expression, as described.

It was not my intention to insult to demean your efforts. I hid your initial post as I wanted to determine if the thread was related to homework, and hadn't done that by the time you reposted. I should have informed you why I had removed it. Sorry for that.

I also should have explained why I thought your solution was bad: that being the unnecessary use of ls, tr, cut, rm, cat, echo and of a temporary file.

I'm looking for a command or simple script that will read lots of audit log file (*.aud) in log fold every 10 minutes, and will output to one file based on sysdate - 10 minutes. assume the script is run at 11:12:20, and it should grep the line from Wed Jun 17 11:02:43 2009 to end of file. after...
