Passing multiple variable to awk

Hi ,

can I pass more then one variable to awk using -v option?

Yes. One variable per -v. So, you'll need to use multiple -v options.

awk -v val1=2 -v val2="HI" 'BEGIN{print val1;print val2}'
2

you can use split also. ( but make sure the delimeter by passing it )

awk -v var="A~B~C~D~E" 'BEGIN{n=split(var,arr,"~");for(i=1;i<=n;i++){print arr[i]}}'
