[SOLVED] Extract IP from text

Dear friends,

I have a file with the text:
Code:
href="/archive/ip=x.x.x.x">M</a></td>

I want to extract just the IP number. I tried sed, awk but i didn't succeed.

Any idea?

Thank you

What about the cut command?

Code:
$ cat sample2.txt
href="/archive/ip=x.x.x.x">M</a></td>

$ cut -d'=' -f3 sample2.txt | cut -d'"' -f1
x.x.x.x
