Hi,
I would like to modify the script [1].
Change data*.list to data1.list in the line below, it did not work.
Actually, to begin the script should read data1.list.

Hi,
Completely stuck..Not working,
With the given script:

I have checked beofore that total no of files present in the given PATHNAME[] are 1021, whereas the FileName has some 3061 files.. duplication of files are happening..Smilie Smilie

Many Thanks for the quick reply,
But I want the following:
initial data can have *data5.list* or *data25.list* or whatever the value. I would like to use *sed* to change it to *data1.list*.

FileName file will be having all the files from PATHNAME 1,2.. and so on
Check for both the paths.Smilie

Use back stick while you want use * as part of the string...

Yes it has..definitely..!! But on top of it, it has duplication of those files as well..SmilieSmilie
Just checked..it duplicate the file name THRICE..Smilie
