Reg expression
Please let me understand this reg expression

(\s+')(.*)('\s+)(.)(.*)(\/.*)/)

i have doubt in the below 2.I'm not understanding why back-tick used?

That's not a back-tick. That's a single quote and I really doubt if that is required there , unless if you meant it to literally match a single quote. Even in that case, it wouldn't be the right usage.

Let us know what is it that you would like to match. That would make the problem simpler.

There are several kinds of regular expressions and for some of them the way they act depends on which program is parsing them. What type of system are you using and what shell are you using? What application is processing this regex and what options were passed to that application on the command line?
