script to set the password from *LK* to *NP*

okay here I go again...
I have created a script which adds new user to /etc/password and which inturn creating a locked password in /etc/shadow but I am expecting to have *NP* for that particular user.Can someone help me with a script which can set the password for a particular user to NP in /etc/shadow..Thanks

Finally I found out how to change it
Just need to use this command after the useradd
Passwd -N user which will set NP in your /etc/shadow

are you trying to make the account as no login account or no password account ?

i believe you are using a solaris box.

Code:
refer man pages for NP (passwd -d accoutname)  and NL (passwd -N accoutname)
