Sendmail including gif's ?
My department uses an outlook mail merge to send login information to multiple users who request access. I would like to use sendmail for obvious reasons. I copied a sample email source, with all the disgusting html formatting from outlook, and can successfully send emails almost exactly as I did in outlook. In order for the html to work I include the following (per previous help on the forum):

The only thing left is I need to include a logo in the body of the email at the top. I have put the gif into the directory where the email script is, and the logo name is included in the html formatting. I have not changed the name of the gif. The gif as full permissions. I have tried specifying the absolute path of the gif but it still shows as a box containing the name of the file and another smaller box that contains a red X. I'm viewing the email in Outlook (as the user would do) so I'm wondering if Outlook is unable to reference the logo? Perhaps there's another thing I have to echo in in order to show logos? Thanks.

Solaris 10 GIF files corrupt during unzip

Problem occurs on one Solaris build. Every time we unzip the Jan CPU, there are several patches that error out (appears to be related to the GIF files). When we unzip the CPU on another Solaris build to a network storage area, we can execute without issue on the original machine. Any ideas? ... (1 Reply)

NAME

       local.users - Specifies mail recipients on the local host.

DESCRIPTION

       The  local.users  file  contains  a  list  of  user names whose mail is to be delivered to the local host and whose return address is user-
       name@hostname.  Entries in the local.hosts file are in addition to other local users (such as root and postmaster). See sendmail.cf(4)  for
       a description of other local users.

       You  can  add  entries  to this file if the host is configured as a simple client and either of the following is true: The user wants their
       mail delivered on this machine rather than being forwarded to the mail server.  You are adding  aliases	to  the  /var/adm/sendmail/aliases
       file. When the host is configured as a simple client, the alias must be added to this file and the aliases file.

       A simple client is defined as a host that had the mail system configured using the MailConfig application from the System Management utili-
       ties or configured using the mailsetup utility's Quick Setup menu.

       The format of the file is as follows: User names are separated by blanks or new lines.  Multiple user name can  be  specified  on  a  line.
       Blank lines are ignored.  A comment mark (#) ends the line.

       After  modifying  the  local.users  file,  you  must  restart  the  sendmail  daemon  to  apply	the changes.  Use the following command: #
       /sbin/init.d/sendmail restart

EXAMPLES

       root postmaster rw  # A comment followed by an ignored blank line.

       # Another comment.  mariah    # Another comment.
	  carey  # Leading blanks are acceptable.
