Running GPhoto2 from within a script
Hi,
I'm trying to call gphoto2 from within a script. The main purpose of the script is to take 'x' number of photos every 'n' seconds and then ftp the result.

gphoto2 from cli works, the ftp script works, but it doesn't all work together. Script (named 'timelapse') currently configured to take 20 pictures, 20 seconds apart.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Error Message received : ./timelapse: line 6: 1: command not found

Did you intend to use the date command? I'd imagine it should still work even if you left it out, but I don't see anything else wrong or odd there.

Thanks for the rapid response, the answer would be, no, I don't need the date in the filename. The command works when i run it from a prompt. The only thing I can think of is that it's permissions related somehow, i have to 'sudo' to run it in terminal but can't do that in the script - as I won't be around to issue the password....

You can setup sudoers to all access to that specific file with no password - why not do that?

visudo and add

photoaccount ALL= NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/gphoto2

Edit: Oh duh, you have a syntax error.

Now:

Change to:

while [ $counter <> 20 ];do

Did that, same error...
Directory output :

adrian@adrian-Latitude-D620:~/photos$ ls -l
total 4
-rwxr-xr-x 1 adrian adrian 289 2012-07-13 16:34 timelapse

If I try to run ./timelapse I get a permission denied error, if I sudo ./timelapse then I get the original error.

That's it !!!! Wonderful, so many thanks. Look at various scripting sites and none have the square brackets....

Can't thanks you enough, now to transfer to Raspberry Pi !!
