I am trying to show how many users are logged into one of my systems. Using who -q it gives me a user count, but some users are logged in multiple times.
Is there any easy parameter that I can use to ignore/eliminate these duplicates??

sort File1 | uniq > File2
but how can I remove duplicates without sorting the file?
I tried cat File1 | uniq > File2 but it doesn't work

I have a huge file (over 30mb) that I am processing through with perl. I am pulling out a list of filenames and placing it in an array called @reports.
