Quoting / interface question

Hi,

My first shell script is one that prints the five largest directories in a given directory. My current effort is as follows, it gives me the output I'd like, but I have to quote a globbed pathname, which seems wrong:

Code:
#!/bin/sh
du -hs $1 | sort -rn | head -n 5

And I must invoke this script as follows:

Code:
myscript "/usr/share/doc/*"

See the quotes. I'd like to be able to just pass /usr/share/doc/ to my program, which implies I drop the -s switch to du, this however causes the directory which is passed as an argument to be displayed first in the result. I can think of several dirty ways to resolve this, but I'm under the impression I'm overlooking a common way of writing shell scripts.

Thanks,
Frank.
