passwd expiry notification
Hi, I'm trying to set password expiry notification. But unable to do so.
>I do not have permission for "passwd -s" on Sun OS(SunOS 5.9 Generic_122300-60 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-480R).
>Also tried "chage -l <username>" but it is not configured.
I'm just an appln user in that system. Could you please help in this regard. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

must be superuser to use passwd -s (I suppose you are using /etc/passwd and/or /etc/shadow for login password mgmt).
Solaris should use passwd -x instead of chage; you need to be superuser for passwd -x to work too.

Thanks 'frappa' for your suggestion. I'm not a super user. I just have some appln user permissions. Want to set a notification for password resetting for my id and appln id. what could be the approach?
