Error in using "mv" command
Hi,

From the script if I am trying to move a file containing space. I am getting error. But, if the same command i am using on command line. It works as expected.

Command:
Code:
/bin/mv -f "test d5" /tmp/testDir

ERROR:
Code:
mv: cannot stat `"test': No such file or directory
mv: cannot stat `d5"': No such file or directory

running script with "/usr/bin/sh"

if space is there in the filename, then use

/bin/mv -f "test\ d5" /tmp/testDir

I suspect it is somehow different in your script then it is on the command line.
Code:
/bin/mv -f "test d5" /tmp/testDir

should work.. Do you have double quotes there as well? How is the script called?

If you are using variable evaluation for getting the file name, then this problem might occur if you are using something like

Code:
mv $filename /tmp/testDir

Use

Code:
mv "$filename" /tmp/testDir

instead.
