Shell Programming and Scripting

hello,

i recently switched to a new ec2 box and transferred the cronjobs from the old box. For some reason one of the scripts won't work but it runs manually from the command line. I've read from previous threads it might be an environment issue but I added a line with the path to the script and still no go. let me know if you guys know why. thanks!

Try exporting $PATH and see if it works!

add export $PATH if your script.

The script posted is extremely dangerous. DO NOT run it from cron.

What Operating System and version do you have? What Shell is /bin/sh on your system?

The script contains a number of problems. Please post in words what the script is intended to do and in which directories.


When at the command line, please post the output from:

which date

Please also look in the unix mailbox for the owner of the cron and see if there are any error messages there.


As it stands the script will probably delete every directory in the tree containing the script if the date command is not a GNU version.
