reading the values from a file in C Shell for loop

Hi All,

I need small help on for loop syntax in C shell.

How can we read the values from a file (line by line) through C shell loop.

For Ex:
Code:
$Cat file1
data1
data2
data3
data4
$

I have to print those values in a variable and have to perform some steps...

Can anyone help on this?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
VRN

thanks much for you reply..

It worked.. But it is reading the values by spaces....

For Ex:
Code:
$ Cat file1
word1 word2 word3
word5 word6
$

In the above scenario, variable taking the values separated by space

Code:
foreach v ( `cat file`)
foreach? echo $v
foreach? end

the output will be like,

Code:
word1
word2
word3
word5
word6

I want these values to be read line by line instead if space by space..

Could you suggest on this pls?

Thanks again..
